Winter fun with kids

So it's January and we are indoors for a while. What are some fun winter activities to do with the kids?

For Toddlers:

- We love the Sledding Hill (known in the summer as Firecracker Hill), where kids of all ages can have fun sledding outdoors. Just park at Town Park parking, and follow the orange cones to the hill. Be careful of the outdoor cross-country course along your way.

- Indoors, we have our local Telluride Library, with a large playroom and book selections for your little one.

- Try a class at AhHaa School for the Arts - such as Kindermusik.

- Or why not ride the gondola?

For older children:

- Telluride Ski & Snowboard School offers individual and group lessons

- AhHaa school for the arts offers classes for all levels of interest, including Kindermusik for the tots

- Telluride Museum offers free local's day every Thursday! - Today!

- The Library now offers Wii games, too!

In the vicinity (within 1.5 hours):

- Ouray offers the Hot Springs (nearby Orvis is clothing optional)

- Montrose offers:
the Climbing Tree Children's Museum (children under 1, free; children $4; adults $4) &
an Aquatic Center (children under 3, free; kids $4.25; adults $5)

- Cortez has an indoor swimming pool for just $1. Did you know that? [Update: the fees changed in 2010 - youth under 17 are $2.50, adults are $3.50]
